Route Setter
We are seeking a highly motivated Route Setter that will collaborate with our Route Setting Team to create a memorable bouldering experience for climbers of all ages and abilities. You’ll be responsible for setting high quality boulder problems, based on the needs of the community while expressing what makes your setting unique.
Half Moon Bouldering was opened March 2021. Our 11,000 sq ft facility features 5,000 sq ft of bouldering, a moonboard and campus board, learning area with one-of-a-kind climbing castle, yoga studio, workout area, space to socialize, and specialty retail.
Our Mission: To create memorable moments and inclusive environments on and off the wall.
Primary & Essential Functions: Set, remove and wash boulder problems to the needs of the facility. Mitigate risk in regards to the route setting product, work zone and facility. Assist in wall maintenance projects and removal of stuck holds. Communicate necessary changes for boulders to the setting team. Organization of the set shop.
Estimated hours: 14-20 hrs per week
Pay range: $21 - $24 DOE
Starting: immediately
Requirements:
- Minimum one year of Route Setting experience.
- USAC L1 Route Setting Certification (preferred)
- Ability to forerun up to V7+.
- Ability to set 3-5 problems per day.
- Design boulders to mitigate risk safety hazards.
- Ability to carry 50 lbs.

Setting Schedule:
Removal Monday from 8:45 PM-11:45 PM
Route Setting Tuesday & Thursday from 9:00 AM- 4:00PM
Youth Climbing Instructor
Starting: immediately
Work load: PT, 4-10 hours/week
Must have weekend afternoon and weekday evening availability
Pay-rate: $20/h
Climbing Instructors are responsible for supplying a safe and engaging atmosphere for students.
Responsibilities
- Arriving in a timely manner and ready to interact positively with your group of students
- Acting as a role model for the students in the program
- Describing and demonstrating climbing techniques
- Engaging with climbers and tailoring instruction to their needs
- Encouraging students to participate in various climbing related activities and to adopt a mindset of growth and exploration
- Patiently dealing with challenging behaviors and scenarios, while maintaining a mature, solution-oriented attitude
- Being creative and focused on problem solving
- Improving your performance by incorporating feedback from superiors and colleagues into your work routine
- Giving feedback on the program’s strengths and weaknesses and identifying potential streamlining of processes, where appropriate
Requirements
- At least 1 year climbing experience, knowledge and technical expertise
- Have CPR/AED/First Aid certification (preferred, not required)
- Experience in an instructional setting or with childcare
- Availability to work weekday afternoons and evenings, weekend mornings and afternoons
- Maintaining at least 1 class per week
- Positive attitude
